Sound Healing - Wellness Through Sound
Sound has been used for thousands of years to promote healing and wellness. Sound also has been used for the expansion of higher levels of consciousness. From the drums of native tribes to the gongs of the Chinese which would induce altered states of awareness so they could expand there states of awareness. Then they could see with their minds eye greater distances. They could see the enemy coming well before they got there, which gave them time to prepare. We have lost this inner sight but it has begun to return with the use of sound again. We now also know from a scientific point of view that sound has healing properties. One example is Dr Mitchell L Gaynor who has written the book The Healing Power of Sound. He has used the power of sound to help induce healing properties with his Oncology patients for over 20 years. He has used properly played Crystal Singing Bowls, Gongs, Music and the Voice. I use the term properly played because of the work of Dr Emoto showed through the effects on water of beneficial music and non beneficial music. I have been trained over the last 10 years by some of the finest Sound Healers in the country and the world, in the use of Crystal Singing Bowls, Gongs, and Tuning Forks. A typical sound session lasts from 20 minutes to 1 hour. The cost is $ 30.00 for 20 minutes, $ 40.00 for 30 minutes and $ 60.00 for one hour for an individual.

Sacred Sound Journey
The sounds and vibrations of singing bowls, gongs and chimes guide us into a deep meditation. The healing vibrations pass through our body, opening blockages and allowing our minds to quiet. A wide range of ancient world traditions from Confucianism to the Pythagoreans’ claimed that sound could not only “tune the soul” but affect our cosmological & social worlds as well. The physiological impact of sound on the body, emotions & cognition is apparent. Through the vibrations of these instruments we experience an inner calm and deep relaxation
that enables us to journey within and center.
A Sound Bath is an immersion in sacred and healing sound wherein the Facilitator activates the full sonic potential of the gong and bathes the listener with sustained waves of primordial sound. During a sound bath, listeners typically experience a sense of connectedness and peace as the sacred sounds clear blockages and restore the free flow of vital energy throughout the body. Listeners have also described out of body experiences, seeing beautiful colors behind their eyes, along with symbols, images, and past life impressions. With its ability to induce a spontaneous meditative state, Sound Baths offers listeners access to parts of the mind that are typically closed, resulting in a sense of expanded awareness and higher consciousness.
Sound Concert tends to be a longer performance, offering the healing vibrational experience to a larger crowd. This scale of sound healing can be offered to businesses for their employees, during Transformational Festivals, for private groups curating an experience for their friends, or for fusion with yoga, QiGong, or other ceremonial practices. The applications are endless and most would agree – invaluable.

Once found only at New Age retreats or the white-domed Integratron in the Mojave Desert, sound baths are now offered all over Southern California. Celebrities such as Robert Downey Jr., Charlize Theron, Laurence Fishburne and Robert Trujillo of Metallica have participated. Sound healers, sometimes called “sounders,” say the vibrations can relax brain-wave patterns, lower heart rate, reduce stress and pain, relieve anxiety and sometimes help with post-traumatic stress disorder symptoms.
Dr. Helen Lavretsky, a psychiatry professor at the Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior at the Geffen School of Medicine at U.C.L.A., and a Kundalini yoga instructor, has practiced sound meditation for 11 years, using it for older adults with memory problems, among others.
She said that participants will often fall into a state of profound relaxation and wake up refreshed. “Deep mental and physical relaxation would decrease sympathetic and will increase parasympathetic autonomic nervous system tone and response, thus decreasing stress response,”
